The I.D.E.A. Store to ‘hatch’ area’s first creative-reuse art festival

The I.D.E.A. Store, Champaign’s premier creative-reuse marketplace, will take the concept of reinvention and reimagination to a whole new level with “Hatch,” a creative-reuse art festival set for March 1 through 3, 2013.


Summer art program to be offered at UI

Registration is now open for Summer Art Experience 2012, the University of Illinois’ summer art enrichment program for children, a community art school taught by art education Ph.D. candidates in the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Registration ends the Friday before classes begin or until classes are filled, whichever is sooner.

Boneyard Connect social to take place at 88 Broadway in Lincoln Square

The Urbana Business Association (UBA) presents Boneyard Connect, an artist and venue social for the Boneyard Arts Festival, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 88 Broadway, in Lincoln Square, Urbana. Art reception set for Feb. 16

Kenneth Hall, assistant professor in Painting and Drawing at the University of Northern Iowa, borrows recognizable figures within art history’s most famous paintings in some his works, on display at the Parkland Art Gallery through March 27.
Combining realism with decorative patterns and gestural forms, he gives new meaning to familiar imagery.
