Sherwin-Williams has ribbon cutting event

The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Savoy Sherwin-Williams store last Thursday.
“Sherwin-Williams is such a quality product; we’re glad that you’re here,” Savoy Village President Joan Dykstra told the company’s representatives on hand for the event.  “We hope that it’s successful.”

Aldi store opens doors

It was a sunny fall morning for the grand opening ceremony at the new Savoy Aldi grocery store. 

Work begun on Philo’s new Dollar General

Earthwork has begun at the site of a planned Dollar General on the west side of Illinois Route 130.
Store officials are awaiting approval of final construction documents before any building can take place. After the village issues building permits, that work can begin.

Philo Dollar General project to begin soon

Discount shopping is about to become much more convenient for Philo residents, with construction on a Dollar General location set to begin in November south of the Philo Exchange Bank lot on the west side of Illinois Route 130 (Lincoln Street).

Goodwill opens new outlet in Savoy

A crowd of customers lined up outside of the new Goodwill store in Savoy on Friday morning, waiting for the doors to open for the first time.
The retail store at 1201 Savoy Plaza Lane is the 14th location for Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries. The store will sell clothing, furniture and other household goods.

Quilt shop opens in Savoy

Deb Heater has been quilting for 25 years, so it was natural for her to open a quilt shop.
Heater’s love affair with quilting grew out of an interest in sewing at an early age.
“At the age of 9, I snagged my mom’s sewing machine,” Heater said.

Redneck Apparel expands, moves

A downtown Sidney business has expanded and moved across the street.
Redneck Apparel has moved from 220 S. David St. to 219 S. David St. The business opened its retail location downtown last spring after having started in the back office of owners Keith and Teresa Kropp’s garage.

Antique store having grand opening May 17

An antique store is having its grand opening soon.
Owned by Tolono residents Dan Eastin and Tom Cain, Timeless Treasures had a soft opening of Feb. 1.
The grand opening will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17. There will be door prizes and refreshments, and some of the business’s 15 vendors will have items for sale in their booths.
