Twilight Trek scheduled for June 23

The Tolono Twilight Trek 5K run/walk will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, at West Side Park, 408 W. Holden St., Tolono. Awards will be given to top male and female overall finishers in the 5K run and in the 5K walk, as well as male and female age division winners (11 and under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.

9th annual Run4Raley held

The ninth annual Run4Raley 5K run, 1-mile walk and Kids Mito Dash event was held on Friday night, with a new course through the streets of Philo. There were silent auction items and a raffle for a television. Proceeds from the event benefited the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation and Hope4Aubree.

Athletes triumph at Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games

About 4,000 athletes from across the state competed in the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games June 10 through 12 at Illinois State University and Normal Community West High School, both in Normal. Athletes competed in one of six sports: aquatics, athletics (track and field), bocce, gymnastics, powerlifting and soccer.
