Unity Youth Wrestling Club qualifies nine for state

The Unity Youth Wrestling Club finished third overall at the IKWF Central Sectional and had nine wrestlers qualify for state.
Hunter Shike won the Intermediate 84 class with 27.5 team points. Hunter Eastin won the Intermediate 108 class with 27 team points.

Unity trio blanked at state tournament

Unity High School sent three wrestlers to the individual state finals last week, hoping to bring home the school’s first individual medal since 2014. But two Rockets were shut out, with only one wrestler moving on to the second and third days of competition.

Unity Youth Wrestling Club wins Rocket Blast

The Unity Youth Wrestling Club finished first overall at the Rocket Blast Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 18. Nearly 400 youth ages 14 and under participated in the tournament.
In the 6-and-under, 40-41-pound class, Unity’s Hunter Mudd placed fourth with 4 team points.

Unity wrestling sends 3 to state finals

Unity High School will have three representatives at the Illinois High School Association’s Individual State Wrestling Finals this weekend at the University of Illinois’ State Farm Center. The three Rockets qualified for the state finals last weekend by placing in the top three of their respective weight classes at the Class 1A sectional tournament in Vandalia.

Rockets sending six to Vandalia sectionals

The Unity High School wrestling team had a successful day at the Class 1A regional tournament Saturday at Shelbyville.
The Rockets finished third in the team standings with 135 points, trailing only team champion Monticello’s 202.5 points and runner-up Oakwood/Salt Fork’s 147.5.

Rockets defeat Bismarck-Henning

The Unity wrestling squad defeated Bismarck-Henning 63-18 Dec. 19 at home.

Rockets wrestlers go 6-4

The Unity High School wrestling team had its busiest weekend of the season Friday and Saturday when the Rockets competed in the New Year’s Challenge Duals, hosted by St. Thomas More at the Danville Civic Center. Unity wrestled ten matches over the two days and won six of the bouts, going 4-1 on Friday and 2-3 on Saturday.

Wrestling takes care of BH/RA

The Unity High School wrestling team recorded a dual-match victory Tuesday night at Osborn Gym in Tolono, when the Rockets defeated Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, 63-18.
The win over the Blue Devils was Unity’s 13th dual victory of the season against three losses and was the Rockets’ final tuneup before the New Year’s Challenge Duals Dec. 29 to 30 at Danville.

Rockets win championship of Unity Invitational wrestling

For the first time in several years, the Unity High School wrestlers won their own invitational tournament, claiming the championship of the Unity Invitational Saturday at the Rocket Center. The Rockets compiled a total of 184 points to edge runner-up St. Joseph-Ogden for the title by 14 points.

Rockets sweep Benton Duals for 2nd straight year

For the second consecutive year, the Unity Rockets wrestling team won all seven of its matches at the Benton Duals in southern Illinois.
