40 North | 88 West and Adams Outdoor announce Sky Gallery

40North has announced a new and unique opportunity for local artists to share their art with the whole community.
40 North | 88 West and Adams Outdoor Advertising have teamed up to create a different type of local gallery. Sky Gallery is a brand new outlet for local artists to display their work on possibly the largest canvas in town – billboards. The first 100 submissions will be accepted for review, and six winners will be chosen to have their piece showcased on a custom 10-foot-by-30-foot billboard for an extended period of time.
The six winners will be selected from the first 100 submissions by a jury made up of representatives of the Champaign County community. The six winners will be announced Jan. 6, 2012.
You must be based in Champaign County to be eligible to enter. The original artwork must fit appropriately within the panoramic format of the billboard in order to ensure an effective presentation.
Artwork must be of an appropriate nature for public, family-friendly viewing. Established and emerging artists are welcome to apply, and all genres, styles and media will be considered.
Entries will be limited to the first 100 completed submissions received before Jan. 2, 2012. To apply, send a completed application form, digital image of proposed artwork and a $25 non-refundable entry fee (checks payable to 40 North | 88 West).
Materials can be e-mailed to kwhite@40north.org or dropped off/mailed to: Kelly White 40 North | 88 West SKY GALLERY 106 S. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820.
Application forms can be found at 40north.org/collaborations. Look for the headline Sky Gallery.
