Maggio again appealing sentence for murder

After being resentenced to 64 years in prison Oct. 12 for fatally shooting his brother in 2010 at the Tolono IGA, a Savoy man convicted twice of that crime is appealing that most recent sentence.
On Oct. 25, Brian Maggio filed a motion for the Champaign County Circuit Court to reconsider his sentence. The motion says that at the sentencing, Judge Heidi Ladd “inaccurately and repeatedly” referred to the July 21, 2010, shooting death of 32-year-old Mark Maggio as an execution and said that the victim was shot in the back.
