Camp Kesem is a free, week-long overnight summer camp for children ages 6 to 13 who have or had a parent with cancer. Camp Kesem is organized by University of Illinois student volunteers under the guidance of its Advisory Committee of local professionals with related expertise. University of Illinois students serve as counselors and undergo over 40 hours of extensive training prior to camp. Camp will be Aug. 5 through 11 in Gilson, Ill.
On April 21, the students behind Camp Kesem Illinois will conduct a 5K/10K fundraising event at the University of Illinois Arboretum in Champaign. The entrance is a quarter-mile south of Florida Avenue off South Lincoln Avenue. Free parking is available along South Lincoln Avenue.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the run will begin at 9 a.m. Pre-register to hold your spot and guarantee a free T-shirt.
After the race enjoy refreshments. Also, prizes will be given to the first-place male and female runners.
