Melba Phillips, 87, of White Heath passed away at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Ingram Cemetery.
Melba was born April 27, 1924, in Champaign, the daughter of James Judson and Helen (Glover) Caldwell. She married Clyde “Scoby” Phillips on Nov. 18, 1951, in Urbana.
Surviving are her husband, Clyde “Scoby” Phillips of White Heath; son, Jeff “Scoby” Phillips of Monticello; grandchildren, Mitch (Melissa) Phillips and Taylor Phillips; great-grandchild, Brayden Phillips; and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Phillips of Savoy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son (Michael Phillips), one brother (James Caldwell) and one sister (Shirley Koehnemann).
Melba was a housewife. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 17 of Decatur, past member of the Centerville Home Extension, Royal Neighbors and the White Heath United Methodist Church.
