Jeanne Folts

Jeanne Synon Folts passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017.
She was born on June 19, 1926, to Jerome and Anne Synon in Madison, Wis.
She was preceded in her death by her husband, William Edward Folts, her loving husband of 57 years, in addition to three sisters, Catherine Neuhauser, Mary Zwald and Margaret Oimen.
She is survived by her five children, Theresa Hazlewood (Rick) of Champaign, Edward Folts of Chicago, Richard Folts (Lony) of Champaign, Thomas Folts (Linda) of Glen Ellyn and Janet Kazwell (John) of Ames, Iowa; and a sister, Bernice Hughes of Mount Horeb, Wis.; plus numerous nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her devoted vocation of being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and cookie baker, she enjoyed working as an administrative assistant for the University of Illinois Athletic Association Varsity I Office until her retirement in 1993. She also held several other part-time positions over the years at the University of Illinois.
Jeanne was a 1944 graduate of Edgewood High School, Madison, Wis. She was an active traveler with her husband and visited in excess of 39 countries after their retirement. She was also an active ballroom dancer and an ardent Fighting Illini supporter and devout Chicago Cubs fan in addition to having a love for her favorite childhood team, the Wisconsin Badgers.
Jeanne was an active and devout member for over 50 years of Holy Cross Church, where she volunteered as a lay minister and was co-founder of Project 67. She also volunteered for many organizations, including Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes and American Heart Association.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 405 W. Clark St., Champaign. The Rev. Joseph P. Donton will officiate. Visitation will precede the funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Champaign.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association and Holy Cross Catholic Church.
