Season ends for Rockets in regional loss to Effingham

The Unity High School boys’ basketball team entered regional tournament play with a 15-8 record and the fourth seed in their subsectional.
However, after getting off to an 11-1 start to the season, the Rockets went 4-7 during the final two months of the 2017-18 campaign, including a 3-6 mark in the inaugural year of the Illini Prairie Conference. As the second-highest seeded team in the field at the Paris Class 3A Regional Tournament, Unity drew a first-round bye and faced Effingham on Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the semifinals of the regional.
