Unity 5th, 6th grades come close at Tuscola

The Unity JFL fifth-and sixth-grade team played its first official road game of the season on Sunday, Aug. 27, at Tuscola. The young Rockets opened the season with a game against Arcola, which was played at Judah Christian School’s artificial turf field in Champaign, but Unity was listed as the home team. Against the team from the northern part of Douglas County, the Rockets spotted Tuscola a pair of first-half touchdown but scored once in the third quarter and again late in the fourth quarter and had a chance to win the game, but a missed extra-point kick was no good, and Tuscola prevailed, 14-13.
