Girls’ hoops competitive despite record

The Unity High School girls’ basketball team had several things that were not in their favor during the 2017-18 season —just 10 girls in the entire program, meaning there were no junior varsity or freshman teams; only one senior on the roster; and a schedule that featured five ranked teams, three of which were also members of the Rockets’ new conference, the Illini Prairie Conference.
But there was one commodity that was not in short supply for Coach Braden Heil’s Unity squad, and that was desire. Heil said that during a season which saw Unity finish with an 11-17 record, including a 3-6 mark in the IPC, there was only one game in which the Rockets were outplayed.
